Regal Chinese Cuisine & Banquet Hall has taken over the once infested Ruby Restaurant. Newly renovated with a modern interior, the open concept layout can seat 900 guests, which makes Regal the largest Chinese restaurants in Scarborough.
The official grand opening is today April 22, but the soft opening has already started in February. The promotion is to pay respect to the senior. Any table with a senior is qualified for a 20% discount on their meal, this also includes free tea cover charge at dimsum.
Joe and I have been there several times for dimsum with our families and our experience has been great, both food and services. Joe’s parent decided to try out their dinner promotion – Shark Fin and Peking Duck prefix dinner for six; eight dishes in total including dessert for $98 with a 20% discount. That’s a pretty amazing price for the type of dishes being served.
The meal started with the Peking Duck. It was perfectly roasted and nicely carved. The remaining duck was shredded; stir-fry with vegetables served as the lettuce wrap. Followed by the Shark’s Fin soup with bamboo fungus. The broth was flavourful with a good texture, not too thick.
Then the rest of the dishes just served up pretty much altogether, maybe a few minutes apart – Spicy Honey Fish Filet, Shrimp with Maggie Sauce, Garlic Sweet & Sour Pork Chops and Vegetables in Soup Broth. Overall, the dishes are very tasty and model a Hong Kong style, in both presentation and food style. For dessert, it was the traditional Red Bean Soup.
Regal Chinese Cuisine & Banquet Hall is actually a subsidiary of Ellen’s Food Group that also caters to Yee Hong Centre with Sara’s Café that focus on serving healthy nutritional food to the seniors. They also own an extensive line of frozen food products developed by their dietitian.
This isn’t their first restaurant it’s actually their third. The other location we’ve been to is at 350 Hwy 7, Unit 101 in Richmond Hill, the Regal Palace Chinese Cuisine. We were invited to a 12-course dinner earlier this year. The food was also pretty good. They are planning on opening a few more restaurants to include locations in Mississauga and across Toronto. So, I guess we will just stay tune.
Dinner for 6 was around $88

I haven’t been back to this location since Ruby Restaurant closed down. That food incident was quite the scare. But I might give this a try soon.. Hope this new place is a lot cleaner!
Yes, the place is a lot cleaner. Newly renovated.
I was just at the sandhurst circle location for a dinner(Ten of us, 5 were children. The service was very good as was the food. the portions were large, we were not able to eat it all. the staff was very courteous and were very accomodating when we ask for containers to take the left over food with us once it was understood what we wanted to do.
**Rating 8.5/10. I would go back any time BanquetBuddy
