Saturday morning, we were driving by Queen St. West and stumble across La Bréhandaise Crêperie. Formerly Urbano and Sugar. Interior hasn’t changed much, same furniture and layout with new paint colour and décor with reminisce of France – the flag was pretty obvious.
We started with a café au lait and a coffee. Our server was very friendly and walked us through the menu and made some suggestion. Menu is simple, savoury galettes or sweet galettes. Galette basically is French crêpe made with buckwheat flour.
I had the La Jugonaise – Galette with egg, ham, Emmental (Swiss cheese) and creamy mushrooms. Typically, crêpe are served in a roll or wrapped with fillings inside. At La Bréhandaise, the egg and ham are served in a thin layer on the light crêpe with edges folded to the center and the cheesy mushrooms are served as a topping in the middle of the crêpe. Presentation is lovely and the combination was quite tasty.
Since Joe doesn’t eat cheese, he had the La Bréhandaise – Galette with ratatouille and chicken fricassee. So, his crêpe was served more straightforward, the ratatouille and chicken is served on top of the crêpe – very flavourful.
To finish the meal, we shared the caramelized apple crêpe with ice-cream. It was delicious; the crêpe was light and airy.
Lunch for 2 was around $40

Ivy! Joe! Pleasure to meet you both the other night!
Can I just say I am in LOVE with savoury crepes? I mean, dessert crepes are tasty too of course… but I’m a BIG fan of savoury ones! La Brehendaise (excuse my laziness, haha no accents on there) is on my list – I’d walked past it before but never been in, and after reading this, I am suddenly hungry for a crepe…!
Keep in touch ok??? -Stacey
For sure Stacey, it was great meeting you and Mark too!
