I’ve been meaning to try LG3 every since I saw the tent card at Le Gourmand located by the food court at The Bay (Yonge and Bloor). One of our lunch spot where I pick up either their poach salmon sandwich, grill vegetable sandwich or their chicken curry salad.
It was a gorgeous evening, so sitting outside was really nice. We started with their charcuterie mix platter that consist of Serrano ham and chorizo from Spain, Speck – double smoked bacon from Ontario and Westfalian ham from Germany. Interesting enough, I found the Speck to be the most flavourful, perhaps because of the smoky flavour and the fat.
The other starter we had was the white asparagus (as per main photo above), served on a fried egg that sits on a bed of pan fried mushrooms on a rosti potato with Hollandaise and carrot sauce. The combination of the yolk mixing with the sauces, mushroom and asparagus was very tasty.
For the pasta, we had the pappardelle served with braised veal cheek, truffle oil and Parmesan. The veal was tender and the pasta was nicely coated with veal jus and truffle oil. Our main was the crispy rock hen, served with cassava frites. Unlike potato frites, there’s sweet and stickiness when you bite into the thick and crunchy frite – nice.
We finished our meal with coffee and summer berry served with a berry consommé and tarragon yogurt. It was very refreshing.
Service was friendly and attentive. The kitchen even split our main courses for us because we mentioned to her we were sharing everything.
